What if I told you that the US Government has set up a hotline so that illegals can call in to get assistance in representation in cases where they don’t think they’re being paid a fair wage? Oh, no – you’re crazy. Our government wouldn’t think of overtly acting as an agent of illegals!
Of course, I’m not suggesting that I condone any continued exploitation of the so-called undocumented workers by employers, but I also don’t think our government should be using its resources (read: our tax dollars) to help secure an even brighter future for those who shouldn’t be here to get exploited in the first place. Now, if the government is using this as a ploy to gather ‘em up and ship ‘em back to where they came from, then okay…but we all know such activities will get you slapped with a lawsuit.
But don’t worry – the government is quickly working toward securing the borders. We’re not just giving up patrolling entire sections of our border because it’s just too hard to do, right? No political “amnesty-first” stranglehold being leveraged by the Administration there, right? I think Joe Barton was correct about this Administration’s affinity for “shakedowns” – first BP and now Congressional Republicans (and the less-squishy moderate democrats.) Yes, the fight for the Latino political soul continues in earnest, and the losers are all legitimate US citizens (go to 3:40 of the clip to hear what the President told Sen. Kyl).
My disclaimer on this last bit – it does require that one take Kyl at his word versus a vehement denial from the White House, but who are you most apt to believe after the last 18 months?
